SWEETER IF BUFFS STUFFED
Big 12 Title game means more if Huskers defeat Colorado

It doesn't look as pretty on paper as ABC would like it, but it's
Nebraska-Colorado nonetheless, and it's coming up this Friday.
The Big 12 North rivals tangle at Memorial Stadium in front of a
national, turkey leftover eatin' audience. Kickoff is slated for
just after 2:30 p.m. Central.
The Huskers have had time to savor a come-from-behind win over Texas
A&M. Colorado continues to suffer through a terrible season, that
started out with a loss to Division 1-AA Montana State.
It didn't get much better from there for the Buffs until recently,
as in their most recent game. Colorado is 2-9 (2-5 Big 12), coming
off a win on November 11th at home against Iowa State.
Even so, Buffs fans must be smarting at this kind of season from a
team that used to challenge for the North title every season.
There are empty seats everywhere at Folsom Field in Boulder. Tough
to class up a program when the team is stinking up its season.
Add to it Colorado Coach Dan Hawkin's recent comments about how the
worst days as a Buff are better than the best days as a Husker.
That's as laughable as the number of empty seats at Folsom Field
throughout this banner year for the Buffs. It is much easier to spot
the drunk people with so many empty seats.
Nebraska enters the game ranked as high as 19th in the USA Today
Poll with a record of 8-3 (5-2 Big 12). The Huskers rank No. 23 in
the AP poll and No. 22 in the BCS poll.
Even though the Huskers should roll, it will be important to see if
Big Red can find a bit of "going for the close" in them to put away
the Buffs early and for good.
NU fans were disappointed in comebacks against the Huskers this
season from Kansas, Oklahoma State, even Missouri in the final
quarter of the game.
Let Colorado hang around and anything can happen when these two
teams line up against each other in November.
The Huskers can't look ahead to the Big 12 Championship game against
a yet-to-be-determined opponent. More than likely it will be a
rematch against Texas.
But first things first, as a repeat game with the Longhorns wouldn't
be as much fun if Nebraska loses to Colorado and comes limping into
the title game.
The NU-CU game will be televised
nationally by ABC.
